The Opening Ceremonies will take place Monday morning at the Arts and Culture Centre on the campus of Memorial University. Lasting approximately one hour the ceremonies will include welcome addresses by several sponsoring organizations and musical numbers which will reflect the spirit of excitement and the region. The Arts and Culture Centre’s location on Memorial’s campus will provide easy access to the living space and the Field Hall where the exhibits will be viewed and judged following the opening.
The Opening Banquet and Dance will take place at the Civic Center in downtown St. John’s. Shuttle buses will provide transportation from the University to Center. The Civic Center is located in the heart of downtown area surrounded by the “jellybean” row houses that have made St. John’s so photographed. The menu will include a selection of local favorites and will be prepared by some of the best chefs in the city. The dance will follow in the open space next to the tables. Shuttles will return the participants to the University after the dance.
On Tuesday night Movie Night will follow the last of the judging. Participants will relax at the newly opened movie theater complex “Studio 12". The evening includes a recently released movie of their choice with popcorn and soda. Shuttles will return participants to the University following the movie. The theaters are located at the Avalon mall near the University.
The Awards Ceremonies will also take place in the Arts and Culture Center, the site of our opening ceremonies..
The Closing Banquet and Dance will be also held at the St. John’s Civic Centre. This $38 million facility is located in downtown St. John’s overlooking the historical waterfront. Following the dance shuttle buses will return the participants to the University.
